National Trails Day, June 3, 2006: A Photo Essay

New Trail in West Windsor Township is explored on National Trails Day, June 3, 2006

The West Windsor Bicycle and Pedestrian Alliance and Friends of West Windsor Open Space (FOWWOS) hosted a local walk along Millstone River Preserve trail, the newest recreational trail on recently preserved wooded property in West Windsor as part of National Trail Day activities.

The walk began at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at the Millstone River Preserve gravel parking lot off of Millstone Road (1/3rd mile from the Grovers Mill Company red barn on Millstone Road). The route for the walk started at the Millstone River Upper Trail and followed the trail through the recently preserved Yeger Property, a beautiful forested 18-acre parcel that borders the Millstone River. The walk continued on Melville and Yeger Roads to Grovers Mill Pond at Cranbury and Clarksville Roads, leading to the recently preserved Rogers Preserve, a beautiful 13-acre parcel which is bordered by Bear Brook and Clarksville Road at the Clarksville Road dam. There is access at this location to the newly developed trail system that winds through the Rogers Preserve, a forested former Christmas tree farm with scenic views of Bear Brook.
